About us

The LoCatT project is a collaborative initiative backed by leading European broadcast and  technology players to assess the energy and carbon impacts of the delivery of TV content (linear and on-demand) across Europe and across DTT, IPTV and OTT.

The LoCaT study has been completed on behalf of the five sponsors by Carnstone, a management consultancy specialising in sustainability and corporate responsibility. In partnership with the University of Bristol’s Computer Science Department and leading media organisations, we developed DIMPACT (https://dimpact.org).

DIMPACT is a web-based tool that allows large media companies to estimate the GHG emissions of serving their digital content.

The LoCaT Project has been nominated
for the NAB Sustainability Awards
